Excced which version? I couldn't install it on win64. The only way for me to use prostar on win64 is to use x-vision or the freeware server AceaXe.

Sorry, but on my dual HP workstation star 3.22 works fine with win xp 64, although sometimes the calculation crashes during dual processor operation. So actually it has nothing to do with xp64. There must be something wrong with your configuration. Be sure that x-vision is exactly installed as mentioned in the manual and it must be started before starting prostar!. (there must be a green shortcut showing "xv" beside your clock)

hope this helps

thanks dude,

yeah i have that icon in my task bar at the bottom, but it just does'nt work, i get the same error \cd was expected at this time.

when you talk about installation as mentioned in the manual, which manual are you talking about??, when i install star-cd it just installs xvision as default and i dont get to change or modify any properties of it?

cheers

what I meant is that you have to adjust the x-vision setup under start-settings-control panel There must be xVision Profiles and vision Communications button and you have to adjust some items as mentioned in the manual. Otherwise it doesen't work.

Try installing X-vision alone again.

Better seek help from support.

Hi Ted,

In WinXP64, the default 32bit installation directory is "Program Files (x86)" - this is different than the default installation directory in all preceeding 32bit versions of Windows (it was merely "Program Files"). This causes problems for v3.22 and v3.24 prostar. The () are confusing it.

You have two choices

1) change your STARDIR variable to a "short form", you know, something like C:\PROGRA~2\CD-ada~1.... and it should work since the () will be absent from the value. If you don't know the "equivalent" short path, run this from a command prompt (using the value of STARDIR):

pathconvert -s "C:\Program Files (x86)\CD-adapco...."

and it will pop out the short form. "pathconvert" is provided in the STAR-CD installation.

2) change your installation directory to some other location that does not have () in it.
