measure of mixedness
I am modelling a mixer, so it is a rotational flow. I am quite new to numerical modelling.
I need to find a way to measure the level of mixing within in the flow, i.e. how homogenous the mixture is. I have found a definition which is a ratio vorticity and strain rate tensor, but I have to write a fortran code to calculate it....which is incredibly scary for me!! I was wondering if there was another way of measuring mixedness without having to write a fortran code, or to calculate the mixedness using the strain rate and vorticity. I am quite desperate here, so any suggestions would be welcome. Also if I have calculates values in the post registers, whats the best way of extracting them? Thanks |
Re: measure of mixedness
How are you modelling the flow? Pressumably it is two liquids, are you using VOF? Cant you just look at the scalar concentrations?

Re: measure of mixedness
Sam, I am also interested in defining a measure for mixedness. I haven't found anything in the literature that looks useful for my problem. If you get some interesting responses would you please pass them on to me? Thanks. Bob
