how to calculate heat transfer coefficient

hi experts, i did one conjugate heat transfer(natural convection) problem in star-cd. it shows my heat transfer coefficient of fin surface is 105 W/M2k. but my proffeser said in natural convection HTC is nearly 10 W/m2k only. but my apporoach is correct. then why i get this value. how to get correct value

Re: how to calculate heat transfer coefficient

use hcoef and a Tbulk which is appropriate to the air temperature in the experimental setup which yields 10

Re: how to calculate heat transfer coefficient

but my friend told star-cd is not give correct value of hcc. because it calculate the heat transfer after that heat transfer/temp variation. so this process if takes near the fin fluis temp. that temp is nearly equal to fin temp. so thats whay it shows high HTC. because the temp variation is vary large. but he said that HTC is wrong. is his statement is correct or not. please tell me.

There is a good reference on adapco-online that discusses STAR's HTC.

Re: how to calculate heat transfer coefficient

hi experts in tutorial 11 natural heat transfer between solid and fluid. i want to find heat transfer coefficients of fin surface. but shows the large variation like 2000 to 0. because it takes base of the fin is around 2000 w/m2k. but how is it possible. then i cant find the actual variation of HTC in fin. because it shows the htc variation 0 to 2000 by 100 step. fin syrface htc is nearly 10. then how i find the correct answer thanks

Heat transfer coefficient

My problem is based on a condenser. Steamis condensing on the outer surface of a thin-walled circular tube of diameter D = 50mm and length L = 6m maintains a uniform outer surface temperature of 100 C. Water flows through the tube at a rate of 0.25 kg/s, and its inlet and outlet temperatures are Ti = 15 C and To= 57 C. What is the average convection coefficient associated with the water flow? Please suggest how to to find the avg heat transfer coeff. in fluent.
