Hello,

I have to model the propagation of a flame in a tube with StarCD. However I don't know how to create an ignition and the reaction of combustion between the air and Butane (Calor gas) with StarCD.

Could you help me, please ?

Hi,

For modelling the ignition mechanism inside STAR-CD, you have to select some ignition cells to be defined as spark plug. The, you have to apply it as different cell table & colour (if possible). Then key-in the starting of ignition process to the end of ignition in the forms of time steps or crank angles. The the combustion will occured automatically once you have set-up your chemical reaction properly.

Actually, you can refer to STAR-CD User Guide and Tutorial to do that. This is from me at this time. Thank you.

Regards,

wendy

Hello!

Thank you a lot for your response. I have made what you told me in StarCD but I can't find where the option spark plug is and I don't understand why there isn't any Air in my tube whereas I have set up my chemical rection properly. I can't see a varition of temperature since the combustion doesn't occur.

Could you help me once again, please?

Best regards,

Mai

I use a model of combustion with premixed gaz ( In fact, I'd like to make butane C4H10 and O2 react with StarCD)

I have chosen a CHKI rate model of combustion, with the option Standard and a local source but I can't enter Ignition parameters, do you know why, please ?

Hello,

I would like to model the propagation of a flame in a tube with Star CD. I have enter the reaction of combustion of C4H10 properly but I can't have a result. In fact, there isn't any variation of parameters concerning O2 and the other elements.

Could you help me please ?
