STAR-CD vs CCM+

Hi,

I am new to CFD and looking at the 2 different packages from CD Adapco - STAR-CD and CCM+. Before I start using either package it would be nice to get some feedback from this community on the pros and cons of each package.

thank you much.

Re: STAR-CD vs CCM+

As almost always it depends of what kind of problem you are working with. CCM+ is clearly more user friendly, includes almost everything that StarCD does, but some features are still missing, like sliding mesh and the VTM plugin. But since you are new to CFD I would recomend you to go for CCM+, because thats the the code for the future. Its rather pointless to learn StarCD only to switch and learn CCM+ in a year from now. I expect my own 10 year experience from StarCD/prostar/proam becoming obsolete very soon... So if you are not desperately in need of something that CCM+ cant do for the moment, go for CCM+.
