Linux64 Installation
Does any one know how to install Suse Linux 10 (Suse Linux Enterprise Desktop 10, or openSUSE 10) from Hard Disk or any other way? As you guys know, there is a problem installing from CD/DVD-ROM on 64bit computer. Was anyone able to install from hard disk?
Thanks a lot Usker |
Re: Linux64 Installation
I have OpenSuse 10.2 x86_64 installed in my box. No problem encountered in installing from the DVD I downloaded form the website. What kind of problems are you facing? Maybe you have a faulty DVD image, have you run an MD5 checksum verification before burning it?

Re: Linux64 Installation
I had the same problem when trying to install Suse 10.2 (DVD cannot be found) (MSI P965 platinum)
here's my solution; 1. Hit enter when the error message is displayed 2. choose your language 3. choose Load Kernel Modules 4. choose the IDE/RAID/SCSI -> choose pata_jmicron and hit enter when it asks for the parameters -> choose the IDE/RAID/SCSI again -> choose generic ide from the list and hit enter few times 5. Go back to the main menu and start the installation |
Re: Linux64 Installation
It's just a guess - I had problems with installation of previous SuSE version even on 32bit machine, but I was able to solve if by updating firmware for CD/DVD drive. You can check the web site of drive manufacturer for fresh firmware.
