How can we thermodynamically model teh effect of the EGR system on the engine performance?

For what kind of engine? And what combustion model do you use? I've used Magnussen and ECFM3Z too, just initialize the scalar of species in your chamber to simulate the EGR...(int + ext)

just set as many scalars as your substances in the cylinder at the beginning of your simulation to model Egr...
You need to know the equivalence ratio of the recirculated gas and so you know what's the O2 concentration in that gas...and you can make hyp. about the composition of the remaining portion of the same gas (CO2, H20 basically)...try to refer at the molar concentration of the chemical reaction! Then knowing the EGR ratio (%) you can calculate the concentration of every substances that your engine is breathing... |
