Hi guys,
I am trying to analyze forces on the wall of close cistern fuel tank.
cistern is filled by 85% with liquid, and when it accelerates liquid has back force to the wall of cistern. How I can simulate this using star-cd?
what boudaries I have to use for closed cistern?
thanks for your reply.

You may want to use VOF methods to simulate this in STAR CD or STAR CCM+.

I don't need to calculate VOF, I just need a pressure distribution in the cistern tank. As you know when moving closed cistern stops suddenly liquid inside the cistern tries to move forward and pressure increases infront, and when cistern moves with acceleration liquid tries to move back side of cistern. What i have to do is to analyze the pressure distribution, so I can know forces on the wall of cistern.

No VOF means no sloshing. At that point why not use F = m * a + rho * g * h?
