Two-Layer Models and Wall Functions

Hi,

Can anyone tell me why starcd (V4.10) requires to select a wall function (standard, non-eq. or angelberger) when using a Two-layer approach?

I was under the impression that when you use two-layer method, the normal k-epsilo equations are solved in th einterior nodes and a one-equation model (eg: norris & reynolds) is solved for in the NWLs.

Isn't the standard wall fuctions needed to model the near wall flow as we know the k-e model doesnot do a good job at the wall? But if we use a one-eqution model in the NWL, why do we have to use a wall function?

Thanks,

Sameera
