Air flow over high buildings.

Hi,

I am seeking kind assistance from one of you who can design and simulate the air flow against the high building in laminar flow with a 2D. The main idea in this simulation is to find the most concentrated spot of airflow above the buildings.

I had tried it in Comsol 4.2 and run the simulation unfortunately the result is not satisfactory as expected.

Willing to pay for the assistance.

Looking forward to any interested person

Hi Taifan,

I have 10 years of experience in CFD project execution in almost all type of industries. I have good exposure on the similar jobs, done for high-raised buildings. You can share job details for the competitive quote.:)

Hi Taifan Tekaman

The flow conditions you specified (laminar) will be valid approximately up to 30 m. of height for mediator density in the cities. However, for high rise buildings, the air velocity and corresponding flow patterns would be turbulent (probably).

I think, we can assist you better, kindly visit us at: http://workshopwale.com

Hi Taifan,

If your aim is to simulate wind pressures on tall buildings, you should NOT use laminar flow models. The flow around buildings in inherently turbulent. In fact, one of the main challenges of tall buildings in CFD is the extremely high Reynolds number (in the range of 10E5~10E7). This is due to the bluff body nature of the buildings and large geometric scale.

Additionally, a 2D model will not be sufficient to capture the effects of flow around the building. A 3D model is required. I also suggest using steady state RANS (k-epsilon model) if you are only interested in the mean pressure distribution on the building. The values you get for the windward face will be reasonable accurate and quick to run. You should not need more than 1M element mesh for a high quality results.

Potential solution

Hey,

Using the correct turbulence model/ properly resolving the turbulence would be my initial guess to solve the issue with your results.

If you still need a solution, ping me on: krishna.grive13@gmail.com.

Not looking for any re-imbursements if its not too tedious work. But would be happy to resolve your issue.

Best Regards
