Wire guaze as Porous domain

Default Wire guaze as Porous domain

I have to model a tray made of wire-gauze upon which other things will be present.

Can I use porous domain to model this tray, or I have to model its geometry to be porous itself?

Are you going for the world record in "most vague question"? How are we meant to know what "upon other things are present" means? With no idea what your flow, fluid or physics is ...... unless you give us some idea of what you are doing there is no way we can help you.

It is a dehydrator, in which hot air comes from one inlet and goes out through two openings at the top.
there would be a wire-gauze tray upon which fruits will be kept for dehydration.
Do I need this tray at all? and can I use porous domain to model it.

In the other post I asked you how can I model fruits as heat sink, as they require and dissipate heat during dehydration.

If the mesh causes significant deviation or pressure loss in the flow then you should model it. If not then ignore it. In a CFD simulation you can have the fruit magically floating in the air.

No, not a stupid question, the forum is here to post questions so feel free to ask more. Just give us enough background and context on the question so we can understand what you are trying to do and give a considered answer.

But the question on heat sinks is being discussed on the other thread so no point in discussing it here.
