Hello,

I would like to calculate a disc brake. The disc contains an inner fluid domain.The temperature distribution in the bodies will be the main output of the simulation therefore the solid domains too are included in the CFX modell. The disc are rotating. The modell is quite complicated therefore I would like to complate the analysis in steady state.

The inner fluid domain of disc is defined as rotating fluid domain. The disc is defined as rotating solid domain. Finally the outside fluid domain is stationary. The disc and the brake shoe are connected with „solid-solid” interface. A heat source is defined at this interface and I would like to investigate the heat expansion in the disc.

Based on results, it can be seen that the fluid domain is rotating but the solid domain (disc) is stationary in spite of my settings. The temperature distribution (in the disc body) shows that the rotating of solid is not occur.

What can be the problem? How should I solve this case?

I seem to recall that rotating solid domains was only introduced in V14. If you have an earlier version of CFX you will not be able to do this.

Thanks you for your information.
I am working in 12.1.
There is a "Solid Motion" option. What kind of problems can be solved by this option? Perhaps can it help me in this problem?

Nope. If you want to do a rotating solid domain you will need V14. And you better check that my dodgy memory is correct and that V14 does have rotating solid domains before you commit to it.
