Does anybody know if CFX's interface model option of "Thin Material" for Heat Transfer takes into account of 3D heat conduction? Or, does it calculate the heat transfer in solid only for normal to the surface direction?

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks and regards

Only normal. It is just an additional heat resistance. Otherwise you have to mesh it in 3D.

Hi,
I have to model an interface between a die and a resin part, that during the cure phase, shrinks, detaching from the die.
In the die-part interface I set an Interface Model-Thin material but when I insert my thickness, that is a function of temperature (T) and cure degree (alfa), I obtain an error message that say that :
"The parameter 'Thickness' in object '/FLOW:Flow Analysis 1/DOMAIN INTERFACE: Default Solid Porous Interface/INTERFACE MODELS/HEAT TRANSFER/HEAT TRANSFER INTERFACE MODEL' is defined to be "Single Valued" but it depends on the following field valued variables: , T, alfa.

Can anyone help me?

Seems like you have to make the thickness a single value, not a dependant variable. Since it is onlt a heat resistance you can achieve the exact same effect be having your material properties (thermal conductivity) of your this material depend on T and alpha.

Thanks for the reply, I'll reflect about this alternative..
