CFD Post Vector Plot options

I see that there are two color modes available for vector plots in CFD post viz.., " use plot variable " and " variable ".

When I plot velocity vectors with the option " use plot variable " and then by choosing the " variable " option with the selection as velocity the colors on the vector plot are totally different in each case.

Could some one please explain the difference in these two options

If the colors are changing from design to design or location to location, the Range is set to Global or Local. To ensure consistent plots, set a Manual range.

My question is not about such change but -

color mode = use plot variable

color mode = variable - velocity

how are these options in CFD Post different for a vector plot

sorry, must have misread your original post.
I think I understand what you are saying, but could you post screenshots of the issue with the vector control panel showing?
