Blood flow under feverish condition
Dear friends
I am doing blood flow analysis in the artery under feverish condition. I am using Non Newtonian fluid. I have many doubts. The expert in this field kindly provide some guidelines to proceed my assignments. 1. If the temperature increases in our body , the heart will do work more . Heart beat will increase and cardiac output will be more.Since I am going to use velocity in the inlet,is there any direct relation between heart beat and flow rate? Note : I know Cardiac output = swept volume * Heart rate. I don't know how to calculate the swept volume. ( Any other relation..?) 2. will the viscosity of blood decreases with increase in body temperature? (But in the non Newtonian blood model, no temperature term). 3. I setup heat transfer coefficient for the artery and blood etc. Kindly provide your valuable guidelines how to proceed. Thank you Regards Kish |
1. Well, only you know the boundary conditions. I suspect the swept volume (of the left ventricle?) is very patient specific.
2. Why not look in the literature for temperature-viscosity relations for blood? 3. Again, only you will know the boundary conditions for how to setup your simulation. What are you trying to get out of your simulation? |
Dear friends
can assume the flow rate if the heart beat increases. |

Thank you for your quick response. We are trying to find out the shear stress with and without stenotic condition under body temperature. I tried in the literature about temperature and viscosity relationship. But my question is ,will the non Newtonian fluid viscosity affect with temperature?. If I set the body temperature 39C and without specifying viscosity and temperature relationship under domain settings, will I get the variation in the viscosity ? ( Provided correct all other boundary conditions). As far as we know the blood viscosity will change with respect to temperature ( not getting the exact relationship yet.), please suggest any other parameters shall we consider for this problem. Thank you Regards Kish |

On a side note, do you really think that the blood viscosity will change significantly if there's a 1-2 °C degree increase in body temperature? |
