HPC Computing

Hey Guys,
Work recently let me splurge and get two new computers for doing my simulations on as well as some HPC licenses to have a play with. I've been able to set the two up using Remote solver manager so that the two are linked and can be used as a "super computer" of sorts. I'm running ansys 14.5 using workbench and cfx.

Currently I'm having problems trying to get the simulations to run on both computers. I can start a simulation on a computer, but it then decides that all of that simulation is to be done on one of the two computers, rather than spread over both. Is there a way to set it up so that it can be done over both? Do I have to split the simulation up in some way for it to split it up between both computers?

Ideally what I'd like to do would be to split it up so that 6 threads on one machine, and 6 threads on the other machine are utilised (both machines have 8 threads however we don't have the licenses to run the simulations on all 8 threads).

Any help anyone can provide would be great. I've tried looking online but haven't been able to find anything so far on how run a simulation across multiple computers, only how to setup the computers into a cluster etc.

Have a look in the installation guide for ANSYS. There is a special section for setting up CFX in parallel. There is quite a few things you have to do.

Also note that you can run CFX in parallel with the remote solver manager (like you are doing, or at least trying to), or you can run CFX directly outside of workbench and stand-alone. Personally I always run stand alone, but you can use whatever you prefer.
