Hi everyone,
I'd like to know how to generate a high quality pdf of a streamline plot in ANSYS 14.0 CFDpost. Is it even possible? I failed today. What's the best attempt?
Maybe with TecPlot? But I failed exporting data with CFDpost! How can I do that?

Is there help for me out there?

Thanks! Everyone...

? This is straight forward in any post processing package, including CFD-Post.

Although if you want a pdf of the image I suspect you will need to produce an image in PNG or JPG format and then convert that the PDF using a tool like adobe acrobat, PDFwriter or ghostview/ghostscript.

I would recommend saving it in a vector format such as .eps (cfdpost can do this) and then convert it to .pdf

Hi everyone,
the point is that I usually use tikz/pgfplot for 2D visualization, what means I am used to generate vectorplots from CFD data. I tried it with png (works ok, but not high-quality) and eps. The eps export has the disadvantage that all legends, texture, etc are bitmaps. I converted it to a pdf with acrobat pro, but I am not really happy at all. I tried to export the data and then make a vector graphic, but failed up to now. Hasn't anybody done this before me?

Thanks for your replies.

Why didnt you say that in your first post?
If you are not happy with the pictures from cfdpost (tried .tiff?) then you would need to export your data to some other program to make the visualization. I use cfdpost, paraview and matlab.

Hi,

If you want to load your CFD results in Tecplot, you can export your data as a .CGNS file.

The option to export as a .CGNS file is found under the "Tools" menu bar in the solver manager.

Good luck,
Dave

When you export images, use the screen dump option and set a high resolution. Then you get pretty hires images without the hassle of vector formats like eps. That is how I get pretty images out of CFD-Post.

Thanks guys! I'll try it with both methods CGNS/Tecplot and screen dump option and set a high resolution. Great! Then I'll post my experience! Great.
