Hello to everybody,

first: it's a great Forum, many thanks for the helpful advices!

I've a question concerning the CFX transient output files. On transient calculations and with the default settings the files become bigger over the time because every file saves the whole convergence history.
For example I start with my 2D model with a file size of 40MB and after 500 transient files it's 200MB.

Is it possible to switch that off? I only want to save my results.

Thanks

Thomas

You must be saving full results files. Make the transient results selected variables only and they will be much smaller - but you should save a full one every now and again to restart from if the run crashes.

Oh, OK, that makes sense. If I select "selected variables" I can't restart from these Points right?

Another question: If my run crashes and I restart my calculation with the last transient file the solver produces a new Folder for the following result files. Is there a way to connect the files of the different folders in CFX Post?

That's right, unless you add enough variables such that it can restart from it.

If you are recovering from a crashed run you are going to have to do the post processing in two sections (if you are doing things in time).
