Electric arc modelling

Hi,

I am trying to simulate an electric arc but having trouble applying the boundary conditions.

I can get the simulation to work by applying a voltage difference to the anode and cathode surfaces, however I would like to have the load applied as a total current.

When I try to apply an electrical current (through the flux in option) in the electrical field, my model always fails. When I check my monitor points, the temperature has gone massively higher than it should (by a factor of about E8).

What is the best way to apply a total current source?

Thanks

Hi,

I am trying to simulate an electric arc between 02 contacts (anode/cathode) with fluent (MHD) but i having trouble applying the boundary conditions.
after separation of conatct , i have deference the potenc 48 v

Try the Fluent forum, this is the CFX forum. Also, don't forget to actually ask a question, your post does not actually ask a question.
