Question about mesh copy for periodic geometry at CFX

Hi everyone,

Thanks for your time to look at my question. I have periodic geometry. I'd like to generate mesh by ICEM only to one and then copy the mesh to the others by CFX. May I ask how to copy mesh?

In CFX-Pre use the mesh transform options. In that you have options to copy the mesh or to move it. In your case copy it to create copies, and you also have tolerances to allow it to merge it to adjacent meshes.

Thanks for your answer. What about I do it at ICEM? Is there any difference?

By the way, I didn't find that button at CFX-Pre. Could you tell me where is it?

Yes, you can do it in ICEM as well.

I am transforming my mesh translational. I dont know why but it doesnt accept it as one entire volume when i copy them. Gluing adjacent meshes didnt work. I have also set peridiocities in ICM (don't know if that was necessary). But what can I do that i have not isolated volumes?

When you translate a mesh in CFX-Pre you can set it to glue the meshes together - but this requires the mesh on the matching faces to be EXACTLY the same. Even a small difference in a single node will cause it to fail.

Alternately you can use a multi body part in ANSYS meshing or single surfaces separating multiple body points in ICEM.
