hello everyone

i m new to cfx.
i have a geometry where in i m taking only 90 degree sector as my computational domain and applyng periodic boundary conditions on the sector edges.
i tried using interfaces in cfx but the solution runs only for few iterations and then diverges.
i want to know the proper way of implementing periodic BC in CFX

it ll be great if u could help me '

thanx in advance

Please post an image of what you are modelling.

hello glen thank you for your reply.
here is the model(attached below)
this is a 90deg sector.
1 and 2 are to be periodic
inlet is shown (nozzle)
and outlet is also shown ..
i define the periodicity in ICEM (global mesh setup) definition.
and then in CFX i make a interface specifyng the axis
But my solution diverges after few iteration

Thanx

It looks OK so far. Can you post the output file?

Have you tried the normal things to improve convergence? That is smaller time steps, better mesh quality, double precision numerics and a better initial condition?

i have tried double precision but same error.
mesh quality as per ICEM is around 0.2..
ill try for smaller time steps.

can u throw some light on specifying rotational periodicity in cfx?
it ll be great if u could help

Thanx

Have a look at the tutorials. Any of the rotating machinery tutorials will use rotational periodicity.
