ANSYS CFX an automatic geometry modelling

Dear experts,

I've recently been told that ANSYS has a feature that helps to automatically change a geometry of a body, and ANSYS re-meshes the new geometry, and simulates based on specified conditions.

For example: If I have a 2D body of a rectangular shape, I will change its length, and ANSYS will automatically do another simulation with the new geometry but using previous conditions.

I checked manuals and tutorials but couldn't find any information that could somehow show that this feature exist.

I will highly appreciate any information and help.

Best regards,
Nurzhan

Hi Nurzhan

Of course you can.
Do you have got Ansys Workbench?
Which kind of CAD are you using???

Bye

Hi Lesson,

didn't check my post for a long time and didn't see a notification in my email box.

Yes, I do have ANSYS workbench 14.5 and currently use the design modeler to build my geometries.

Many thanks,
Nurzhan

Oooook.

With Design Modeler ( it's also possible with ProEngineer ) you can define a parametric geometry ( in your example the length of the body ). For do it, when you are on Design modeler and define your geometry ( the dimension of the body for example -) when you put the number, near there is a toggle button (see the parameter image attached - H1 is a parametric dimension, V1 is a no-parametric dimension) active it and you have a parameter.
So in your Workbench interface you will see a new "menu" linked to geometry ( parameter setting ) and when you change the value of this parameter by this new menu, with the update command you'll have a new simulation with the new geometry ( all of this in automatic mode )

You can define a table of parameters and launch your simulation during the night and Workbench will do everything for you.

Bye bye
Fely

Hi Fely,

Thanks for your reply. It was very straightforward and informative.

Many thanks,
Nurzhan
