Vortex-Induced Vibration

Hi everyone

I'm trying to model Vortex-Induced Vibration of a flexibly mounted circular cylinder in two-dimensional flow. At first I tried two-way FSI in workbench linking a transient structural problem to a fluid flow problem (using CFX block) but there was some problem adding springs to the cylinder structure while solving and I also had not an easy control on the mass of the cylinder because it is related to the density of the cylinder material. Now I have decided to use only CFX and define a displacement function for the cylinder wall subject to flow.
So I want to know how can I add this function or subroutine which would be representative of a simple mass-spring-damper system which I can input calculated fluid force to it and get the resulting cylinder wall displacement as output ???

Thanks

Dear Mahdi,

might you could find your questions' answer in this thread http://www.cfd-online.com/Forums/ope...amic-mesh.html

You are actually doing the same what I did. I'm working in flexiable cylinder too.

All the best

Maimouna
