Hi everyone
I'm trying to model Vortex-Induced Vibration of a flexibly mounted circular cylinder in two-dimensional flow. At first I tried two-way FSI in workbench linking a transient structural problem to a fluid flow problem (using CFX block) but there was some problem adding springs to the cylinder structure while solving and I also had not an easy control on the mass of the cylinder because it is related to the density of the cylinder material. Now I have decided to use only CFX and define a displacement function for the cylinder wall subject to flow. So I want to know how can I add this function or subroutine which would be representative of a simple mass-spring-damper system which I can input calculated fluid force to it and get the resulting cylinder wall displacement as output ??? Thanks |

Dear Mahdi,
might you could find your questions' answer in this thread http://www.cfd-online.com/Forums/ope...amic-mesh.html You are actually doing the same what I did. I'm working in flexiable cylinder too. All the best Maimouna |
