Coordinates of contour plot levels

1 Attachment(s)
Hello there,

I've been wondering if its possible to get something like a function which describes the geometry of the border of a contour level. In the case on hand I'm about to compare the location of a particle with the location of a contour level. For example: Is the observed particle in the region of the lowest temperature?
Maybe there is a better way to determine this, I'm also happy to receive advices in this direction :)

I'm using ANSYS 15.0

Make an isoclip with the upper and lower limits of your desired contour level. Then use the 'Calculators/Function calculator' to get the area of the iso clip, or use an expression like area()@Iso Clip 1. Im not sure I understood your second question, so Im guessing here: Use some other software (excel/matlab?) to make a fit of the coordinates to get a function that the describes the border.

Thanks for the quick answer, Lance. I changed the content of this thread right before you responded to my question, because I somehow forgot I already had the answer to my question last week :o. (The question was how to get the area of a contour level in a 2D plot)

@GrN

Can you post the answer, Please!!?
i'm having a similar problem, where i need the coordinates of a contour level boundary.
Thank you

Generate a contour object, then go File/Export and use the contour object as the location object. The file will have a series of points along the contour. You will then have to do something with an external package (matlab/python/whatever) to work out if your particle points are inside the contour.
