Hi,

I am working on comparing the surge behavior of a compressor with some design modifications. I am using a single blade passage for the same.

I have my simulations running, but I need to compare the surge behavior of the same. How can I do that ?

I read in a few papers to monitor the pressure fluctuations at a boundary and these variations can give an indication of stability. How can I do this?

Or is there any other method I can use?

Looking forward to replies

Regards

Have you read the best practices guide in the CFX Reference manual? It gives lots of information about these sort of models.

Dear Glenn,

Yes I have read the best practice guide, I agree it gives a lot of insight but unfortunately I could not find my answer there.

I am simulating two centrifugal compressor design's and need to compare their surge behavior ( low mass flow rate stability). I read some papers on the same which said to monitor or plot the pressure variation at a boundary. Comparison between the amplitude of oscillations can indicate the marginal stability of performance. Is this correct?? If yes how can I monitor the pressure?

Is there any other method to predict/ monitor the compressor surge?

I am not an expert on compressor design. If you have quality research papers which describe a method as you describe then that sounds like a good thing to try.

If the paper is available online, can you send a link to it please ?
I am very interested about it
