What will be the state or condition in fluid volume when flow is not full?
 
Assume we modeled a large pipe. And if we give low mass flow as inlet, then the flow will fill only a little portion of the pipe. What will be condition or state in the space of fluid domain, where fluid flow doesnot occur n single phase flow?
(in case of multiphase flow it is understood that the air or other fluid will occupy the remaining portion and free surface of fluid will be formed. But what will happen in single phase flow?)

In single phase flow, the entire domain is assumed to be a single material (there is no free surface or fluid boundary aside from the domain boundaries. If you apply a reduced flowrate, the resultant velocity will just decrease, but the entire pipe will be flowing.

In that case will it represent the actual physics?
When I plot streamlines, it shows streamlines with near zero velocities where flow is not dominant... What to infer from this? Also the pressure distribution will b different rite?
