Error when exporting 3D mesh from pointwise to cfx

Hi,

I wanted to practice generating a 3D mesh in pointwise and exporting it to cfx for further analysis.

To do this I first attempted exporting the CAE mesh from the Boeing 747 Nacelle tutorial in pointwise. I set the solver to ansys cfx, reset the boundary conditions, selected the three blocks and exported it to a .grd file.

However, when I try importing the mesh to cfx I get the error: "Unable to import mesh: No 3D elements imported".

I can't seem to find a solution to this problem and any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am also having the very same issue...

The CFX error says means that is cannot read the file. You are going to have to find a file pointwise can export which CFX can read. It looks like the default CFX gizmo in pointwise does not work so you are going to have to try something else. Maybe CGNS, or any of the other formats.

Exporting the .grd from pointwise is fine. All you need to do is make sure that when you import the mesh in CFX, make sure that the Files of Type option is set to Pointwise Gridgen.

Thanks for your responses. Exporting to .cgns format worked fine for CFX.
