ERROR :::: Signal caught: Segmentation violation
hi i m facing the following error when i run the simulation in transient....
| ERROR #001100279 has occurred in subroutine ErrAction. | | Message: | | Signal caught: Segmentation violation | | | | | | | | | | | +--------------------------------------------------------------------+ +--------------------------------------------------------------------+ | ERROR #001100279 has occurred in subroutine ErrAction. | | Message: | | Stopped in routine FPX: SIG_HANDLER | | | | | | | | | | | +---------------------------------------------------------------- how to over come it? |

It does not necessarily mean that the solver diverged, it could also be almost anything actually. MPI that for some reason stopped working, hardware problems, installation errors, etc. You're out of luck when you get segmentation violation, but the FAQ on overflow is a start at least.

I can't slip anything past you, can I Lance :) I was aware of that, but as you say the basic numerical stability stuff in the FAQ is the place to start.
Alternately Muhummad could post more information about where the error occurred and we might be able to tell if it is related to divergence or something else. |
thanks to you boths,,, it was hardware problem.....mpi,,,

:) Glenn, I just spent a day on trying to fix a segmentation violation on a simulation that worked last week. Turned out to be both memory and disk related.
