Ok, the link only contain an image of side channel spillway no problem (I do not know uploaded directly), how and where insert inlet boundary condition for this type spillway, need to take reservoir in the fluid domain of spillway?

I do not understand your question.
But the general principle is that at a boundary you need to be able to specify the flow. So if you do not know the flow at a location then you cannot define a boundary at that location. Then you have to move somewhere where you do know the flow conditions. |

dear wsu, your question is very general, i dont understand it, Please explain your problem exactly, whether you have problem in drawing geometry? you with regarding geometry problem in Physical Model will underastand boundary conditions in your model (like: inlet, outlet, wall,....)
hope it helps |

dear hamidciv I think my question is clear and may be general but not more, in hydraulic engineering physical model is differ from fluid domain which created in ANSYS CFX or any other softwares, I create physical model in laboratory but till now I dont see any project on side channel spillway by CFX, there are many projects on stepped, ogee .... spillway. thanks I hope understand my idea.

Have you had a look at the "free surface flow over a bump" tutorial? That describes one way of setting up boundary conditions for free surface simulations. Have you had a look at it? There are other ways of setting up free surface boundary conditions as well, but as I still have not idea what your problem is I cannot help you much.

dear wsu, as your mentioned in field of side channel spillway not work up to now with cfx, in other words I also had not seen, In any case, I think you're having trouble drawing geometry, please attached one image or own dwg file here for more help, image that your sent in previous post cant help for your guide.
I will be glad, if i can solved your problem, i interesting modeling spillways. best regards |

thanks ghorrocks, yes I saw this tutorial this is a two dimensional flow, its a simple case in free surface flow, thanks a lot for your comments

dear wsu, i spending time for your model, Unfortunately, as long as we do not have an understanding of the physicalal model, Drawing it is too confusing, I tried to draw a part of it and attached it in form zip, whether you have one image of physical model?
hope it helps Last edited by hamidciv; October 11, 2015 at 02:57. |

dear yaseen, for copmplex geometry using autocad is very easy in compared to design modeler, if You spending time and have a correct view of the physical model can easily draw in AutoCAD, after drawing if your possible please put one image of 3d model in here.
good luck |

dear hamidciv, this is three dimensional view of side channel spillway (my model), but trough channel is not solid. when I exported into ANSYS geometry, dimensions is changed, why??
how to create your model of spillway that you are uploaded before please can you upload file of spillway. thanks http://www.mediafire.com/download/cp...pillway+3D.dwg |

dear yaseen, change dimension is not problem, you can modify it with scale in design modeler, your model is created is not a volume, you should drawing figure in form one volume, uploaded your spillway access in previous post, now what is your problem?
if you problem in drawing, i suggested you using gambit for drawing geometrt, it is very easy. |
