Default Issues with .res archive generation

Hello there,

I am trying to do some simulations of airflow on bridge profiles in the CFX 16.2 student version and I always keep getting this error message:
ERROR #001100279 has occurred in subroutine ErrAction.
Message:
Write_res: Failed to rename res

It seems this has nothing to do with the CFX-Pre settings, but with the temporary file allocation. However, I do not have a clue on what is going on to always receive this message, which appears in any other simulation I try to do as well. Also, I haven`t found anything on this error on the internet or in the documentation.

Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks a lot!

Do you have enough space on your hard drive? Do you/cfx have the rights to write/edit files in that folder?

maybe contact ansys support about that...

Hello Maxim,

I have got plenty of space available (1TB HD and 16GB RAM). I am going to double check on that, but I am almost sure it does. Unfortunately, I am using the Student license, which only allows for online documentation and nothing more.
I have checked the program files and noticed the unzipped files from installation were not in the "Program Files" directory. Now I have tried doing a handful of simulations after moving these files to the Program Files folder and it looks like the problem is gone. I am guessing the program part responsible for .res file generation was not in the right directory and when it was going to be ran for simulation it wasn't being found.

Thanks a lot for the help and concern. I'll update this tread if this turns out to happen again.

Regards

Glad to hear that you solved your problem. Your solution/explanation sounds plausible. Now 'the internet' has the solution in case another user runs into the same problem in the future

Yeah! I hope this will be useful for someone else. I had been trying to solve this for two months and couldn't find the solution anywhere. Fortnuately this is something that won't happen again

Cheers
