Vertical Wind Turbine rotor simulation
 

Hello,
I want to simulate fluid flow over a Vertical Axis Wind Turbine and I might need your help. :)

I made a standard „steady state” analysis type for the rotor in 1 position and it went ok. Now I would like to rotate the rotor with 5deg and repeat the simulations, and to do so for several positions.

My model contains the „pie” with the rotor and the „tunnel” in which the pie is located. These are 2 separate domains. My assumption is that it is possible to rotate the inside domain „pie” in relation to the other domain or to the global coordinates. But, I cannot find how do to it and google searches did not helped. Please help if you have an idea how this could be done.

You should be able to rotate the rotating component in CFX-Pre by 5 degrees and re-run the simulation.

I was looking in the CFX-pre for this option and was looking through tutorials to find a guide, but I probably missed it, or maybe I don't know how to use the option.

Can you give me a hint what "tools" or what option to use? Or maybe you have a tutorial and you can send me a link, this will help me a lot :)

By the way for the answer to my need I was looking in the details for the Domain I need and in the Analysis Type

Use the mesh transform options to move the section of mesh you wish to rotate.

hi guys right now i am working on a simulation of a vertical wind turbine using ansys, can any one of your guys tell me which is the easiest way to do the mesh , by the way i am not an expert on ansys , just start working with it few month ago. by the way i attached the pic regarding the mesh i did on my own.

You already appear to have a mesh, so the method you used seems to work, doesn't it?

All I can recommend is to do the meshing tutorials and then look at what you have to mesh and decide for yourself.
