Hi guys,

I am struggling with the particle transport.

The below link shows what I modelled and what I got as simulation.

https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B5...UVIcjU0YmRpUlU

I want to get the particles going around along stream rather than just popping up on the domain.

I want to get the simulation as below link;

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FM0DScymjKc

Let me get some help with this

cheers

Hello hikinam,

in domain, where you define the Basic Settings, Fluid Models... there is a tab "Particle Injection Regions" There you can define where the Particles are injectet with wich velocity. For example a Full Cone with a defined radius and a given direction. then you can set the velocity to "Zero Slip Velocity". Then the particles start with the same speed as the fluid.

i hope that helps you

Hi bro

Thanks for your comment

It was really helpful.

I want to ask you one more thing HOW CAN I SET NUMBER OF POSITIONS, MASS FLOW RATE AND THE LIKE FOR THE PARTICLES.

It is quite difficult to set the conditions.

AH another questions is I want to make 20 particles float on the water surface and make it move as the impeller is rotating

My work is below:

Cheers

Hello,

You are doing a transient simulation? I used only steady state until now. So the following is for steady state, but most things should be similar.

The picture shows how to insert 20 particles. your surface is at z=1 and in the xy plane. the radius of the area is 0.5 m. in this area he injects 20 particles. the start with with the velocity of the water. the massflow is 0.5 kg/s.
If you use one-way coupling and only want to know where the particles go, then the massflow shouldn't matter.
The Number of particles need to be high enough, especially when using "turbulent dispersion force". Since that model uses random Values.
If you want to inject the particles like the video in your first post, you can do it in a round area the same way as above but with the direction in either x or y. If you want a line you can create a few point injection on a line.
