Import Profil from CFX-post plan to CFX-pre Inlet

Hi all,

I've exported from CFX-post the velocity profil from my first simulation.

Now i want to use it as an inlet for an other simulation. So in CFX-pre, I go on Tools -> Initialize profil data; then i choose the csv. file that i've just created before in CFX-post.

The import file goes in the user functions, I edit it and then I'm lost... Because i can see the import profil as my inlet in CFX pre (I plot it with the velocity vectors), even if i don't have set it as inlet ...

When i go in the Inlet boundary condition of my system, i can't choose to add my import profil as inlet (only variable and constant).

So the main question is : How I set the import profil as an Inlet in CFX-pre ?

Any help would be welcomed

(I know that the question has been posted many times but i spent a whole day to try to find some clues without success)

Thanks,
Hugo

Take a closer look at the "Basic Settings" tab for boundary condition of interest. There should be a section named "Profile Boundary Conditions / Use Profile Data" . Toggle, select the profile you want to use, and generate the values.

Then, you can review the Boundary Details tab to verify what part of the profile information was used to fill in other widgets.

Hope the above helps,

O great Opaque your answer is gold for me ;)

Thanks thanks thanks !!

Hi all,

One question more about the imported file.

When I generate the velocity vectors from the profil imported, they are not placed at my inlet, but in a randomn zone (outside from my simulation domain).

I was thinking it was enough to tell ansys to use the velocity profil as inlet.. it seems not.

When i go in CFX post to look at what the inlet looks like, it's like the inlet is connected somehow to my velocity profil, but clearly not the same (it's not a mesh issue I already look closely to that point).

I put both picture in CFX-pre and CFX-post that way you can understand my problem.

Thanks if someone can help,

Hugo

The mesh in the pre-processor is translated (shifted) respect to the mesh in the post-processor.

You have (at least) two alternatives:
- Transform the mesh in the pre-processor to align to the location of the profile
- Transform the profile to match the mesh in the pre-processor. The transformation is done by creating a new Coordinate Frame which is shifted from the global coordinate frame. Use the new coordinate frame on either the profile (edit definition), or at the boundary condition panel. You may need a few tries to understand how it works, but it does work.

Hope the above helps,

Thanks Opaque,

I'll try to apply what you just described,

I'll let you know if I manage to make it :)

Thanks for your precious answers, I was really stuck !
