Hello everyone,
I simulate 2-dimension flow passing a cylinder where appears the karman vortex. As known to all it's an unsteady and transient case, and I get data of 50 time steps. Now I want to export those velocity field data of 50 time steps, the problem is everytime I use the command <file—export> I can just export the data of one time step.
My question is how can I export those 50 time step data by simple operation?Need I export them one after another?

Thank you very much!

Hi Yujia,

When you choose the trn file in the setup, you have to choose the to export each time step. It's in setup -> solver -> output control -> trn results -> (add a file) -> Option -> every time step.
Then when you're in cfx post you can export all the time step.

Hope it helps,

Bye

You want to export your Data from CFX Post to e.g. a.csv File for excel (this can be done by using a perl script have a look at http://www.cfd-online.com/Forums/cfx...tml#post385850)?
Is this your question?

Or is what YuguiYo said already the solution to your problem, meaning you want to have a trn file for each time step written, so that you can watch all of them in CFX Post?

in case you haven't set monitor points before your run, the approach with a script as monkey1 described in his linked post is recommended

I know how to export a single csv file, and now I want to export all 100 time steps' csv files. Would you know how to do it with simple operation?

What are you going to do with all that data?
Is it not posible for you to make an expression in cfxpost?-> that would calculate what you want, than plot a transient graph of your expresion than export your time dependant solution.

In other words to calculate something you are probably trying to do with excel (or other) directly with ansys post and export only results that you realy need.
I doubt that thousants upon thousants of numbers is usefull to any human being.

how does this work in fluent. Are Report files the best solution? I d like to export Pressurevalues over my mesh for each timestep.

If you want to export the pressure over the entire mesh for each time step I would use CFD-Post and do it in a session file. You can record a session file doing the actions you want (load time step, export pressure, load next time step etc), then edit the session file to do it for all your time steps. Replay the session file and there you go.
