BladeGen_Shroud.curve
Hi all,
I've got the very unfortunate task of having to work backwards essentially. I've got a 3D solidworks model of an impeller and I have to analyse it using CFX. The ansys sketching tool in Design modeller is beyond a joke, I do have the hub and shroud contours but I was getting no joy there. I've moved on to writing my own bladegen files (hub.curve, profile.curve, shroud.curve). My question(s) are: a) If I had a cad model of the blade is there an easy, and I mean easy, way to get the bladegen files from it, or... b) can someone explain in depth the shroud.curve file? I can understand the rest but the shroud curve file appears to make sense when its describing the inlet and then the radius values become completely unexpected. Any help would be massive. Brett |
Does your license include TurboGrid? That would be the easy way.
Import the CAD files into DesignModeler, add inlet/outlet/hub/shroud as lines and use the Flowpath-feature to create the profile.curve. Mesh in TurboGrid. |
How do you add those features in design modeller?
I can't draw a spline with anymore than 3 points. |
you create a sketch on the Meridional plane for the hub and draw a line (or multiple) for the hub. Another sketch for shroud, outlet and inlet. The axis of rotation must be the Z axis.
You select those sketches to the according contour fields in the Flowpath feature. Then use "export Points" with that Flowpath, add a couple of layers, specify the number of blades etc and extract the curve for TurboGrid. Read the documentation about that - I can't show you screenshots from my project since it's not open for public yet. |
My version isnt even allowing me to draw a straight line.
I must be doing something wrong. Is there some mode you need to be in for it to let you sketch? |
are you using the "sketching" tab? --> insert sketch instance on meridional plane --> sketching tab
