Hello,

I will start running a series of simulations in CFX. The first one will be based on the solution of unsteady Navier-Stokes eqns without a turbulence model. Other simulations will include a turbulence model. I generated the mesh on ICEM and it seems ready.

The results I am trying to get:

-turbulent kinetic energy
-time-averaged velocity magnitude
-time-averaged vorticity magnitude
-momentum thickness Reynolds number
-variation of frequency spectra
-instantaneous vorticity magnitude
-instantaneous perturbation vorticity magnitude
-time-averaged turbulent kinetic energy

I did run a simulation just for testing (without a turbulence model). However, I could not find the options in CFD-Post to obtain some of the results above.

Do I have to specify my expected results in setup stage? or do I miss sth else? How can I tell CFX to give me the above results?

Thanks.

All the turbulence related parameters are not modelled as a turbulence model when you select the laminar flow model. You then have to develop expressions to extract the turbulence from the flow field fluctuations (if any exist). How to so this is a whole new question...

Flow parameters like vorticity in in CFD-Post for laminar or turbulent models, under the puzzlingly labelled "..." button.

Thanks ghorrocks for your reply.

Then can someone recommend any paper/manual to develop and implement such expressions on CFX? Im not so experienced with CFX, but I think I can manage that..

Have a look in a good turbulence modelling textbook like "Turbulence Modelling for CFD" by Wilcox. Also my PhD thesis has a short discussion on a few options: https://opus.lib.uts.edu.au/handle/2100/248 in chapter 6.
