In fact,It's very easy using cfx4.I think perhaps you are a beginner of CFX.If you are in China, you can connect with me directly. Best regards

Sincerely yours Li XInfeng

Hi,Mr.Li, I want to use CfX4.2 to calculate coal combustion in boiler furnace. What about your results of calculation? If possible, send me .geo and .fc Thank.

Dear friends,

Incidently, I am working on boiler combustion modelling using CFX4.2. If you could send me a test case (*.fc,*.geo,*.f...), I would be very grateful to you. Thanking You

Dear all,

I am currently started studying CFD and i have a very basic question regarding heat transfer CFD.

I am suppose to calculate the overall heat Flux through a modified Boiler pipe.

when we calculate the heat flux we only consider energy transfer through convection?

My question is that do we include radiation (in terms of internal emissivity ) while calculating over all heat Flux through a boiler pipe with Flue gas inside the boiler and tube surface temperature as 457 K.

Whether radiation is important will depend on your exact application. if you want to be sure run a simulation with and without radiation and see what difference it makes.

Dear ghorrock

Thank you for your reply!

i am trying to simulate a dead end furness with inlet fuel as 100 % methane and oxydent as 23 % oxygen and 77 % nitrogen.

My task is to evaluate the total amount of heat transfer through the surface of the furnace and heat transfer through the boiler tubes with different geometries.

There is alot of difference in terms of total heat transfer through the surface when radiation is turned on but the energy balance is not valid for that case.

I like to know how are these calculated

1) Internal emissivity of the Flue gas

2) absorption coefficient of the Flue gas

3) scattering coefficient of the Flue gas

Any help highly be appreciated

Those parameters are all explained in the documentation. Have you read the CFX documentation?
