The hydrostatic pressure will have no effect on your simulation unless your fluid is compressible, or you have a thermal gradient. If you really want to see the resulting pressure, run the problem normally and using CFX-Post, calculate a new variable "Hydrostatic Pressure" as:

Hydrostatic Pressure = Pressure + Density * 9.81 [m s^-2] * Z

This will be the pressure you are expecting.

By the way, Robin, my boss wanted to ask you if you come from Waterloo, as he thinks they were the ones to start developing this program,there in Canada.

In CFX-Post, first create an expression for hydrostatic pressure (using expression editor in post), then create a new variable using that expression (using variables editor).

Alternatively, you could create an expression for hydrostatic pressure in CFX-Build. The result of the expression would be available as a scalar output from the solver.

Sorry, man, but with respect to that, what do u mean by CFX-Post?I imagine it is CFX-Visualise.In there, I can't find any variables editor, or expression editor.Where can I find it?The thing is I already have mthe problem solved,is there anyway of plotting my newly defined variable(provided I can define it first), in CFX-Visualise?

CFX-Post is the next-generation post-processor for CFX-5. There is a pre-release version available from the community pages on our web site. The full version will be released with CFX-5.

Sorry, I assumed you had downloaded it already. You can either download the pre-release version, or go by my second suggestion, which is to create the expression in CFX-Build.

I work out of the Waterloo office. At one time, this was the home of Advanced Scientific Computing (ASC). We continue develop CFX-TASCflow here, the CFX-5 solver, post-processor, and TurboGrid are also done out of this office. ASC itself was originally founded by Dr. Raithby of Waterloo and four of his grad students. They are all still here (except for Raithby, who has retired) and actively involved with CFX. I have only been with CFX for a year now, and I must admit I am very impressed (does it show? :).

Just wait until you get your hands on CFX-5.5!
