four-way coupling

Hi dude
Can I simulate multi-phase flow with four-way coupling approach in CFX?
If yes, How can I use it?
my project is about wearing within a hydrocyclone by CFX and should investigate the flow with four-way coupling because particle-particle interaction is also important?

Four way coupling of what?

CFX has a very sophisticated multiphase model. So if you are talking about a multiphase flow the answer is yes, CFX can probably model it.

CFX has erosion models, particle wall collision models and particle collision models. Refer to the tutorial examples and documentation for more details.

Thank you
Yes,I meant four way coupling in multiphase flow and I wanna to simulate wearing within a hydrocyclone
I'll try to find it in CFX
The best

Which model of multiphase has four-way coupling approach in CFX? Eu-Eu , ... ?

ghorrocks May 10, 2017 18:51

Four way coupling requires four things to be coupled. What are those four things?

Multiphase models allow an arbitrary number of things to be coupled together. But whether you can get it to converge and whether the results are meaningful is another question....

I think you didn't understand well about four-way coupling
four-way coupling in a multiphase flow means considering, for instance in a solid-liquid multiphase flow, fluid forces on solid phase and vice versa, solid phase forces on fluid phase, and particle-particle interaction in flow.
I searched about multiphase model in CFX and realized there are two multiphase model in CFX
1. Lagrangian particle tracking
2. Eulerian-Eulerian
I found in Fluent I just need to use Eu-Eu model for considering four-way coupling and now I don't know which one should I use in CFX? Eu-Eu or LPT?

In that case, all major CFD codes which support multiphase flows have what you call four way coupling. Most people would just call that a multiphase flow model with particle to particle interaction models.

Both Fluent and CFX have both Lagrangian and Eularian models, and both have particle collision models (and much more). Please read the CFX documentation about the models and where they are applicable to. You need to understand the models before you know if they are appropriate in your case.

OK
