Plane moves when using animation tool for a transient simulation

Hi everyone,

I have an issue with the animation tool in CFX. I am simulating a rotating part in transient mode, and I have a plane crossing the part in half so I can observe pressure and velocity.

However, when using the animation tool, the plane moves along its normal axis, but I would like it to stay where it is and just plot what is happening.

How can I do it?

Thanks!

Don't animate the plane, animate the contour of the plane, or the velocity vectors.

Hello!

I have exactly the same problem, but with CFD-post. There is no possibility to animate contour or vectors. it is only possible to select plane there.

Can anyone help?

Did you output results files throughout the simulation? go to the timstep selector at the top and make sure there are more than one results file.

The problem there is the fact that you cannot control the playing speed (slow/fast) of the animation.
How can I slow down the animation?
Thanks.

For transient? Output more results files. Each one will be shown for 1/24 of a second in the animation (24 Hz). You can slow down the play speed in many video players. Or use some video editing software to slow down the speed and save the video in slow motion.

Actually, I just checked, and this must be new in v18 or 18.1. It looks like you can specify the number of frames for the timestep animation, and it will repeat your results files to make the animation longer/slower.
That would have come in handy about 50 times!!!!!!!
