Hi everybody,

I am currently trying to get a deeper insight on Ansys CFX. While I am doing a rather easy multiphase simulation of an aerated labscale water tank I want to acquire some background information.

Is there a book that covers the most common ways how a solver works and what commercial software uses which of these algorithms? So I can get an overview of pros and cons of these softwares.

Another topic is the analysis type: It would be nice if there is some literature that explaines the difference between steady state and transient analysis in Ansys CFX and is quotable at once.

There is a lot of information on this forum, but most of this information is more explanatory. I'd like to have quotable equations (of course also with explanations) and I know that this would be too much for some Thread to handle.

So I appreciate any book recommendations related to the topics above.

P.S.: Obviously I am not a native speaker, so feel free to ask about things that are not clear.

siw will become famous soon enough
Presumably you have read the appropriate sections in the CFX Theory Guide which comes with CFX? I would guess a fair amount of the details is ANSYS proprietory information and just the top-level stuff is what can be found in CFD textbooks such as An Introduction to Computational Fluid Dynamics: The Finite Volume Method by H. Versteeg and W. Malalasekera etc.

I got another question:

I am working with an old version of Ansys (14.5), my supervising PhD-Student uses a newer version (18 or something). Does something like a changelog exist?

Kind regards,

Johannes

yes, in the customer portal you can find the changelogs for each version.
Since you are multiple versions behind, I would definitely recommend updating.
