Hello all,

I am interested in running a Non-Newtonian laminar flow simulation within CFX. I am seeing several models listed that are within CFX for Non-Newtonian flow, such as Bingham, Bird-Carreu, Carreu-Yusada, but I'm wondering how you implement these models in the setup of CFX. To date, I've only ever run a Newtonian simulation where I wasn't concerned with a viscosity correlation, so any feedback would be much appreciated.

CFX Tutorial 14 uses non-Newtonian flow. Have a look at the CFX tutorials - they are on the ANSYS Customer webpage.

In CFX you can abandon the various laws (power law etc.,) and feed the rheology data directly into CFX pre (viscosity vs shear strain rate) if you have it.

Thanks for the replies. I'd very much like to use my own rheology data, but I'm not sure if that would be an option for me, considering the fluid of interest is quite expensive and must remain in a sterile environment.

I'm wondering, though, how one goes about choosing one of these fluid models? From my reading, it seems that multiple models can work for a shear thinning fluid. I'm interested in examining flow at pretty low shear rates. Is there a model that is more suited to this, or is it safe to just choose a non-Newtonian model and stick with it?
