Tecplot to CFX5

Hi. I want to use TECPLOT as a postprocessor for CFX 5.5.1 Is there any program that converts the output of CFX-5.5.1 to the TECPLOT format? Please let me know about it. Thanks

Mohamed ^_^

Re: Tecplot to CFX5

Mohamed, export from the solver manager in CFX551 as a CGNS file. Then import the results into Tecplot. You may have to play around with the exporting options in the solver manager window, but it is possible. Results come into Tecplot but aren't the most friendly format. Have you though of using the tecplot CFD add on ?? Bob

I can start to open the file in CGNS format, but not completely. It generates an error message. Do you have any solution ? Thanks ^_^

Re: Tecplot to CFX5

You need to use CGNS as Bob pointed out.

Just out of curiosity, what's in TECPLOT that you can't do in CFX-Post?

Re: Tecplot to CFX5

Neale, we have used tecplot in the past to generate plots such as comfort levels where an average was needed for the year and our model was run for different seasonal conditions. Data was extracted using post, them manipulated, before being read into tecplot for final post processing. Being that tecplot is a more generic plotting package you can usually get it to do what you want it to do, however it will usually take a fair bit of manipulation and time and will always be slower than the Post for the everyday post processing requirements of CFX runs.
