Hi,
How accurately can you perform supersonic simulations for aerodynamic parameters in CFX? I would like to perform a simulation on a large mesh for velocities reaching several Mach numbers. I have found various tutorials for supersonic CFD-simulations, but these have mostly only been around Mach 1 and for small objects. Thanks in advance! |

How accurate can CFX do supersonic simulations? Theoretically, very accurate. But you need careful validation and verification - but any simulation requires this, so it is nothing unusual.
CFX can handle Mach numbers up until gas disassociation or plasma starts becoming important. For air that is generally about Mach 5. The size of the object is not important, big or small is OK. |
