I'm sorry to bother you again, but I'm really stuck...

Is it possible to update a def/res file with a new mesh, same topologically as the original (same number of nodes &elements), without having to redefine the regions and boundary conditions and everything??? Moreover is there a command in batch mode for doing this? in cfx5?

Is it possible to obtain the original def file from a res file??

thanks

1) Create a session file in the new CFX-Pre (or BUILD if you're using 5.5.1) and then play it with your new mesh. You'll get the same CCL file, regions, etc...

2) You can use cfx5cmds to read the CCL: cfx5cmds -read -def example.def -text example.def.ccl
or
Read the res file into CFX-Pre and tell it to write a new def file. Note that you'll lose the solution variables and your problem will be started from the scratch.
Good luck, cfd guy

thanks, but I was just hoping there was a way to do it without having to use the gui... to use it in an automatic way with a routine and the command line.

PS : thanks for the Interpolation def res message response!!

And there is... cfx5pre -batch run.cse
where run.cse is your session file. But to get this session file is strongly advisable that you use GUI when creating it.
Good luck, cfd guy
