Drag and Lift Calculations

Hi everybody, how can i calculate the drag and lift on a submerged body using CFX5.5. Hoping for an early response. Thanks in advance.

Hi Sam,

At the end of the output file is a summary of normal and viscous forces on the surfaces. You can get drag and lift from that.

Sam, to simplify your problem you could group your surfaces into a single wall boundary condition, so getting the forces for the complete body.

Of course, gotta enable "output equation flows", which will do the calculation of the pressure integrals, otherwise Post can't determine the forces

Actually, in version 5.6 Post can estimate the flows/forces etc. if the expert parameter is not set.
