Hi,

I am trying to use the free surface model available in CFX5.5.1. Has anyone used it and can they give me any advice on using the model. I am experiencing divergence problems. If anyone has any suggestions, please get back to me.

Regards Jennifer

Hi Jennifer,

What timesteps are you using?

You tend to have to use small timesteps for free-surface problems.

Are you running steady-state?

It is a good idea to use the timestep for VF as 1/10 of the timesteps for everything else.

Try, dt=1/f and dt=1/10f for VF, f being revolution time for your mixing vessel.
