about erosion problem caused by solid particles

Default about erosion problem caused by solid particles

Hi, CFD guys, has someone involved into the simulation for the duct erosion problem caused by the solid particles(for example iron particles) in the flu gas? By CFX5.6 it seems that the particle tracking model can handle this problem through wall stress. But I don't know if it says this stress can reflect the effect of erosion, and what's meaning by its unit Pa.?

The unit of stress is Pa. Effect of erosion could be determine by wall stress, erosion rate, ....

Hannah, I would speak to your friendly support team at CFX or account manager, as I think they will be able to help with this one. I know CFX are planning something for future releases. Bob

Thanks HVN and Bob. I still have a question for HVN. Do you have any idea about the erosion level in ducts. For example I simulated a duct in which its diameter is 2m, the inlet velocity is about 15 m/s, flu gas's temperature is about 300 Deg.C, the particle flow rate is 0.42 kg/s. The wall stress I got is only 6 Pa. Is it possible for the case?

I don't know: I work ussually with liquid. It might be possible if you work with straight pipe.
