rotating equipment CFD recommendation

I work for a manufacturer of centrifugal pumps and have been investigating various CFD packages off and on for the past few years. Does anyone have any success stories / horror stories to share? Any software recommendations?

Hi,

CFX is the market leader in pump modelling. The other codes have started copying some of its features for pumps over the last few years, but still CFX5.6 and Tascflow for solvers and turbogrid for mesh generation are the clear market leaders IMHO.

Suppliers of the various codes should be able to tell you what other pump manufacturers are using their codes (and possibly the length of time as well). On the other hand a quick google search using CFD and pump manufacturer names quickly shows up who is using what. Additionally this should tell you which CFD providers will have experience in dealing with pump CFD related questions.
